TAG: The Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

Hello, bookworms! It’s been like ages since I last did a tag post, but I recently came across this fun tag at my friend, Stephen@Stephen Writes blog and I immediately decided to do this one!

This tag is created by the wonderful, award-winning blogger, Jenniely. Don’t forget to check out both Jenniely’s and Stephen’s answers as well!

1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it βœ”

Guilty, but yes. I started getting a constant stream of review requests directly from authors and I have received review copies but as I had taken on a lot more than I could handle with all the blog tours and everything, I am totally lagging behind reading/writing reviews.

Despite knowing this, I’ve also received a lot of ARCs from NetGalley and Edelweiss most of which I haven’t even gotten around to reading…

So yes, I am totally on the “naughty” camp on this one 😦

2. Have less than 60% feedback ratio on NetGalley

Nope! I can proudly say that is NOT the case with me on this one!
As you can see in the pic below, I still have 18 books lined up on my shelf, but my feedback ratio is 74%. Not bad, huh?

3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)

I don’t think I have done this in 2019. I usually review all the books that I read straight away, I could never leave them at just rating and not reviewing. No matter how long it might take for my reviews to come, I usually post my reviews on my blog (except for ones that I don’t think would be received particularly well due to factors like target audience and such).

4. Folded down the page of a book

Nope. My perspectives and views toward book condition have actually changed drastically this year and I no longer mind annotating directly on books/dog-earring as much as I used to, but I haven’t dogearred my books so far.

5. Accidentally spilled on a book

As I haven’t read many physical books this year, I don’t think I have spilled my drinks on my books.

6. DNF a book this year βœ”

Oh, plenty!! I know it’s not something to boast about but I think my tolerance toward books has become much lower this year. I don’t DNF books for blog tours (God, no) of course, but books that I’m reading solely for my pleasure? I am pretty quick to DNF them once I have decided they are not for me.

7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it βœ”(Not intentionally)

Well, I don’t buy books for so-called ‘Tsundoku’ I always buy them with intention of reading them!
That said though, whether I actually get around to reading them is a different story…

8. Read whist you were meant to be doing something else (like homework) βœ”

Hell, yes! Especially when I am scheduled to do a review post for a blog tour but am running late. When pressed for time, you’ll resort to extreme measures, no?

9. Skim read a book βœ”οΌˆOnly occasionally)

I basically like and try to savor each and every word in a book because you never know if there’s some crucial twists or clues hidden in there!

Nonetheless, again, when I’m pressed for time to the extent I doubt if I would be able to make the deadline, I do skim read. But not always.

10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal

Nope! I initially set my Goodreads goal for reading 50 books but I then raised the number in increments of 20 to 30 books as time went by. Eventually, I fixed my Goodreads goal at 100 books and I have finished 130 books so far. I am a winner on this one!

11. Borrowed a book and not returned itγ€€βœ”

Does a book that I checked out from a school library two decades ago count? If it does, yes. But again, it happened only ONCE in my lifetime. So far.

12. Broke a book buying ban

I don’t even impose a book buying ban on myself, so the answer is a resounding NO. I don’t make promises which I’m uncertain that I can keep.

13. Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about

Now, this rarely happens to me. I am a type of reader who has to write a review right off the bat once I have finished a book or I will forget everything, even the story line (I’m not even joking).

14. Wrote in a book you were reading

No. Never. As I previously mentioned in my answer to #4, my perspectives on book condition have drastically changed, but I don’t think I will ever actually write directly in my book. I usually use post-it notes instead.

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

No. It will never happen because I add a book to my Goodreads shelf as soon as I start reading it and update my reading progress on a regular basis. You cannot post a review for a book unless you set the reading status to “read/finished,” so the books I have read and finished are automatically added to my Goodreads.

16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friendγ€€βœ”οΌˆNot intentionally)

With my Japanese Twitter friends, we pass around books that we have already read when we meet up face to face. I don’t know whether it fits with the definition of “borrowing” books, but we keep the book(s) until we actually finish reading them so… yeah… there are SOME books that I haven’t returned to them. Just yet.

17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book

Nope. There aren’t many bookworms around me especially those who specifically read English novels, so no.

18. Broke the spine of someone else’s book

My biggest pet peeve is breaking the spine. I will never ever let it happen not only to my books but to others’ books. Should I ever break the spine of others’ book, I will certainly get a brand-new one to replace it with.

19. Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged

I haven’t read a single hardback book this year, so the answer is no, but I do take the dust jacket off when reading a hardback and place it on a safe place so as not to damage it.

20. Sat on a book accidentally

No. I didn’t. But I did accidentally drop a paperback I was reading and damaged the cover… 😦

Final Score: 7/20

So, I thought I have become less patient this year but this results suggest otherwise – I still sit on the “Nice” side. Phew!

Since I wasn’t tagged by anyone so I will leave it to you guys to decide whether to have a go or not. If you are going to do this tag, be sure to tag me so that I can read your answers!

That’s it, guys! Here are my answers to The Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag.
Hope you enjoyed reading my answers!

Again, if you haven’t done this tag and are up for the challenge, be sure to tag me so I can visit your page!

Thank you so much for reading as always, and I’ll see you in my next post!

  1. Well done for falling in the ‘Nice’ category! I liked reading your answers – you have totally smashed your Goodreads goal. And I know nothing about NetGalley, but I can tell your feedback rating is good, so congrats for that!
