September Wrap-Up

Hello, bookworms!!
Fall is definitely in the air – my favorite season has finally come!!
In fact, I put all my Halloween decorations up and adorned my bookcase with Halloween lights that I got when I visited my sister two weeks ago! It looks so festive and very fall-ish. I’m loving it!

Now, it’s time for my September wrap-up and let me share with you the books that I read in the month of September!

This list of books includes three novellas but I managed to finish 12 books this month! I wish I could have finished The Prodigal Daughter, but I ran out of steam lol

You can read my thoughts on these books by clicking the links below.

Evidence of the Affair
Can You Keep a Secret?
The Academy (link to my Goodreads review)
Bird Box
The Sunday Lunch Club
The Fault in Our Stars
All Systems Red
The Love Detective
Turtles All the Way Down

My review for My Sister’s Grave will be up soon ๐Ÿ™‚

I enjoyed those two books on equal level; Bird Box for scaring the crap out of me and Evidence of the Affair for breaking my heart with the emotional writing. I had a bit of a reservation about Taylor Jenkins Reid for having disliked Maybe in Another Life so much, but this short story turned out to be a winner which I am grateful for.

It pains me to name The Sunday Lunch Club as a disappointment of the month because the cover is so darn pretty!
As you can read in my review for this book, the parts and pieces themselves are strong and good, the plot itself has a lot of promise yet the execution isn’t just up to standard. It leaves a lot to be desired with the flow unnatural and very much forced and contrived.

I’ve been participating in a year-long reading challenge called, The Ultimate Reading Challenge and the challenge for September was “a genre that will take me out of my comfort zone.”
My bad, I keep forgetting about this challenge and completely missed reading the genre which I wouldn’t normally pick up!

So yes, I failed to meet this challenge this month. Oh, well, that happens…

There you have it; this is my September wrap-up.  Just like the last couple of months, my September turned out to be as successful and productive!

How about you? How was your September? Comment below and let me know!

Thanks so much for reading as always, and I’ll see you in my next post ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. 12 is great!

I like your bookcases! I see Seventeen. I still need to pick that up (might need to get it from Book depository).

Hope October is a good reading month for you.

  2. So many books! And you have some awesome ones there! I’ve been in the mood to read a Kinsella book lately–maybe I’ll try out Can You Keep a Secret?. Happy reading! I hope your October is just as great!
