AWARD: The Unique Blogger Award #4 & 400 Followers!!

Hello, fellow bookworms!
The amazing and wonderful Steph@Lost Purple Quill recently nominated me for The Unique Blogger Award!
I’ve been so bad at doing tags and awards lately and it took me a while to actually make this post. I’m so sorry for being so late to do this award post, but thank you so much for thinking of me when choosing the nominees!

This is my fourth nomination (holy molly), together with the fact that I just hit another milestone of my blog – 400 followers –, there are so many surprises and unexpected things happening around me lately!

If you haven’t already (which I assume highly unlikely), go check out Steph’s blog and follow her! She is truly an amazing book blogger with fabulous book reviews, she is one of my great influences!

All right, then, let’s get the show on the road!

  • Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you
  • Answer the questions
  • In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award
  • Ask them 3 questions

What is the lock screen and home screen on your phone? (I’m just curious)

Nothing fancy, really – I just simply chose the pre-installed wallpaper on my iPhone lol
I do sometimes pick some pictures or images that I like from Pixabay, but right now, I kind of like this pink-purple gradation and stick to it 🙂

You may think “Oh, wow, her home screen is pretty barren, she hardly has any apps on there.” And true, I don’t have many apps on my phone due to the storage space issue that I’ve had since I bought my iPhone almost 2 years ago. I’ve been using my iPhone 6s and I went to my friend for a piece of advice on how big storage space I would need. I’m not so big on gadget to begin with and I don’t play games (I used to be obsessed with video games a long ago though) at all. So I assumed that I wouldn’t need as big storage space as 128 GB or 256 GB. I was debating whether to go for 64GB or 16GB. Me, being all stingy back then, I followed my friend’s advice and picked 16GB model of all options.
Needless to say, it didn’t take me long to realize what a big mistake I had made – it was the beginning of my ongoing battle against the storage space lol

Fortunately, the latest version of iOS seemed to have freed up a lot of space; the figure of my remaining storage doubles what it used to be before the update. All well that ends well, I would say!

What’s something you were really into/obsessed with when you were a kid?

I no longer remember! But I vaguely remember I was kind of obsessed with TV shows like ‘Masked Rider’ when I was little??

I googled a bit and this is definitely not exactly what I used to watch, but my mom told me that I was such a tomboy when I was a kid. I would ride my tricycle INSIDE THE HOUSE, climb up the pillars in the hall of our family’s temple, jump off the slope as high as 2 or 3 meters!
I don’t watch that kind of show any longer (of course), but the show seems to have been exported to the United States! Hope you can get a feel what it’s like (mwahahaha)

What was the best birthday you’ve had?

As some of you might know, I am an introvert and I LOVE cooping up at home rather than go out partying. I do have some friends whom I regularly hang out with, but I’d prefer peace and quiet to be honest.

That said though, I think the best birthday that I’ve had dates back to almost 5 or 6 years ago?
There was a group of friends with whom I often went for some drinks, and it was almost a customary to throw birthday parties for each other.  On July 6th, my birthday, I got a phone call in the afternoon unexpectedly and a friend of mine told me to come to an Italian restaurant at 7 pm sharp. He didn’t mention anything about what to expect, he didn’t even utter a word about a party, he just told me to come so I went along with it.

When I went into the restaurant, there were my friends sitting at the table waiting for me and shouted, “Surprise!”  One of my friends who was a business associate of the owner of the restaurant booked the restaurant for 2 hours. I cannot tell you how surprised I was, and I think that’s the best shindig that I’ve had so far 🙂

I hate to be a rule-breaker, but I am really bad at tagging people and I honestly don’t know how many of you have already done this award.
To me, every one of you are unique and valuable, so consider yourself nominated and go ahead if you up for it (and use Steph’s questions in that case).  You totally deserve this award 🙂

Thank you so much, everyone for stopping by for this Unique Blogger Award post.
It’s been almost a year and a half since I started blogging and I never imagined that I would be where I am now back then!
I really appreciate your support and friendship, please remember you are the reason why I am blogging!

Hope you all have a great week, happy reading!

Love these answers and questions and haha, congrats on reaching the milestone! I definitely agree on the birthday thing- better small and cozy than huge and loud tbh.
    Great post!

  2. Congratulations, Noriko. Beautiful answers. Loved knowing about your phone. And girl, you were a tomboy?? My, that’s a revelation! A tomboy and an introvert. Don’t they cancel each other?

Ha! I sure was. I don’t think I was a “natural” tomboy though. I was really into dolls and house, but I was always put into gender neutral clothing, had a mushroom hair-cut, ran around the park with the boys, and stuff like that.

  3. Congratulations, Noriko! On the followers and the award and.. LIFE. [Just because.]

Picking up the right phone for yourself is a hard thing to do – I know. I always tend to ask at least three friends to help me out and only buy a phone if they all agree on the same one. It has worked out so far but I’m loathing the day it won’t, haha. I also stick with Samsung. Don’t really like the expensive price-tags of iPhones.. :/

You should totally make sure your friends do something like that again! Or just organize one yourself! Even if you’re an introvert, it can feel so good to do something like that, even if it’s once every couple of years. 🙂

    • Thanks, Kathy ❤
I know!! iPhones are so expensive. My co-worker recently got a latest model and he told me it cost like $1000… crazy!!
Thankfully, my storage space doesn't bother me as much as it used to and I got used to not having many apps on my phone, so I think I'll stick to my phone until it finally conks out lol

      • That’s ridiculous! Seriously.. That’s like almost a tenth of my car’s price?! I’d rather use it to pay off my loan, haha.
If you get used to it, all the better. I don’t think I’d be able to cope since I love taking pictures with my phone when I’m out and about, haha. Not to mention the overload of apps I have and use.. a lot.. :’)

  4. Congratulations on reaching 400 followers. Are apps like friends? Quality over quantity is my motto. I agree with the space issue, I don’t want to cluster then not be able to download an audiobook from the library.

  5. That birthday surprise sounds wonderful!! That’s so sweet of them! And I love your lockscreen- I love the warm colors! I don’t have a lot of apps either, I just don’t like the clutter. Every now and then I go through and delete all the ones I’m not using, so I only have two page of apps as well! Thanks for doing the tag, loved your answers!!
