WWW Wednesday: November 15th, 2017

Hello, friends! How have you been doing lately? It’s time for another WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam@Taking on a World of Words.
To participate, just answer the three questions below and link back to her or put the link to your post in the comment section of her blog so that others can look at your answers!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Now, here are my 3Ws…

Always by Sarah Jio.   As I’m aiming to read at least 2 romance/women’s fiction this month, I picked up this book and I’m currently on page 102.
Kailey, the heroine who will soon marry her perfect fiance, unexpectedly bump into her old flame, Cade, outside the restaurant and finds that Cade had fallen into a state of homelessness and is devastated by his downfall. Although Kailey thinks she loves her fiance, Ryan, and she knows she’ll marry him, but her strong urge to save him from his distress starts to occupy her mind.

Now, this book hasn’t gripped me as much so far, but there are scenes that I found pretty compelling and that squeezed my heart. The issue of homelessness and discrimination are also interwoven, I think it gives some depth to this book and hopefully, this doesn’t end up just a saccharine, fluffy romance book. I have to say, some scenes are overly sugary for my liking, and I don’t appreciate that much. Nevertheless, for the sake of the social element, I haven’t thrown this book across the room yet lol   I’m kind of curious to see how the story goes down from now.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.  I thought it would take me at least two weeks to finish this Classic, but this read surprisingly fast and gripping and I literally devoured this book. I enjoyed every single moment while I was reading this and I just couldn’t put it down.
You can read my thoughts at the link below.

Jane Eyre

As I told you in my Goodreads Monday post, I’m still on a biiiiig Classic kick but I don’t feel like tackling a massive book right now. So, I think I will pick up Anne of Green Gables for my ‘Remember November (hosted by Kathy@Books & Munches)’ challenge.

In addition to that, in a bid to complete my another challenge, ‘read at least 2 romance/Women’s fiction,’ I have these two books in mind at the moment.

Paradise is a personal recommendation from my dear friend, Nel@Reactionary Tales  and she says this book is really good and the synopsis sounds really delicious and enticing.
On the other hand, Sarah Jio’s writing kind of makes me want to pick up Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler which I bought last October but haven’t read yet (oh, my, it’s been a year already!!), and I think I need to read this by the end of this year (hopefully).

So basically, as for contemporary romance/women’s fiction, it’s toss-up between these two books. I have yet to decide which one I will pick up after Always, but we’ll see!

That’s it for today.
What are the books that you’re currently reading?
Have you finished any books recently? What books are you planning to read next?
Let me know in the comments below so that we can have some fun chatting about books!

Thank you so much for reading as always and I’ll see you all in my next post! 😉

    • Thanks, Alex!! Yeah, I wanted something not so difficult to read lol I’m in a weird reading mood, too. Coraline which I picked up a week ago doesn’t seem to see the light again! lol I don’t know why, but I just don’t feel like finishing it.
So glad you’re enjoying Emma! I’ve seen the movie long time ago but have never read the book. So cannot wait to hear your thoughts 🙂

        • I know!! Forcing ourselves to read a book which we aren’t really invested in will never do us good 😦 It’s totally fine that we pick whatever book our heart desires!!
What other classic books do you have in mind? You’ve got pretty awesome classic book collection judging from your Instagram!!

            • Ooooh, that sounds so much fun! I love your Charles Dickens project in which you read his body of work every single month. That reminds me that a BookTuber called Mementomori has been doing a chronological read-through of an author of his choice. Kind of similar, don’t you think?

  2. Nel says:

Currently reading Rock Chick. Finished reading The Trouble with Twelfth Grave and probably going to read whatever the next Rock Chick book is called in the series, haha. Rock series was a recommendation by my girl Lana and so far so good. I really hope you like Paradise. I actually have two paperback copies of the book and one has that cover. Maybe I’ll mail it to you if you like it. 🙂

She sent me this book as a surprise but it was sitting on my shelf, so I decided to read this month 🙂

  3. I think it’s great you’re trying to expand your horizons and read women’s fiction/romance… I have to say I had prejudice about those genres, until I started picking up a few of Liane Moriarty’s books… if you are interested, I think you’d love Big Little Lies!

    • Yes! But then again, when I finished ‘Always,’ and as you can read in my review on that, I was mentally frustrated and drained and ended up picking up a different book, sticking to my original November TBR… hahaha! But I will read Sweetbitter by the end of this year!
