WWW Wednesday: August 23th, 2017

Hello, friends! It’s time for another WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam@Taking on a World of Words.
To participate, just answer the three questions below and link back to her or put the link to your post in the comment section of her blog so that others can look at your answers!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

As I said earlier, I have been a abit scatterbrained since last weekend. Although I don’t think I’m not getting into a reading slump, I picked up Muriel Spark, The Public Image and then put it back on my shelf. And then I picked up The Alchemist once again since my Twitter friend said that she enjoyed reading it. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy The Public Image, but I didn’t get to fly through it as quickly as I had expected, I decided to put it on hold for now and then tackle The Alchemist instead.

As for Best Boy, I’ve been listening to the audiobook and enjoying it so far. But there are scenes that I had a hard time deciphering what the narrator is saying because the narrator employs a heavy accent to play a particular role in the book, so I ordered a paperback at Amazon Japan and am waiting for it to arrive right now. Once it arrives, I am going to physically read it while listening to the audiobook to better appreciate the book, so it’s going to take a while to finish the book, I suppose.

From my last update, I managed to finish four books 🙂  But then again, half of them are really short, like around 100 to 200 pages so there’s not much to speak of. I really enjoyed reading them, especially Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder was unexepctedly good. Unlike most cozy mysteries that I have read in the past couple of years, this book had more than 300 pages and I assume that was why I enjoyed this book so much. The plot was well-contemplated and crafted, the characters are all vivid as well.  My favorite goes to By Your Side though, again, I enjoyed most of them 🙂

I wasn’t expecting (at all) that my request for NetGalley would be approved, but my goodness, I got an ARC for Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng that’s coming out on September 12th!!!

Once I’ve finished The Alchemist, I’ll jump right into this book and write a review, and THEN I think I’ll be ready for my long-anticipated read, World Without End by Ken Follett! and Obsession by Amanda Robson that I mentioned in my Goodreads Monday. I cannot wait to see how it goes!

That’s it for today.
What are the books that you’re currently reading?
Have you finished any books recently? What books are you planning to read next?
Let me know in the comments below so that we can have some fun chatting about books!

Thank you so much for reading as always and I’ll see you all in my next post! 😉

  1. Yay for finishing four books! Even if it’s short ones, it’s still four books!

I’m currently reading Rewind by Denise Allan Steele which is a pretty fun read since it’s situated (at least where I’m at) in the seventies. I’m sure it’ll go to the present as well, but I’m not that far along yet, haha.
Up next are more ARC’s because.. ARC August and my 100% feedback ratio on NetGalley has disappeared since I got approved for two more ARC’s – oops. Oh, and I have yet to read two books for blog tours. So.. Fire Lines by Cara Thurlbourn, Nascent Shadow by Matthew S. Cox and A Pearl for My Mistress by Anabel Fielding are up next. ^-^
Fingers crossed I can finish them this month so I can focus on Sequel September, haha.

Wow, you’ve still got lots of books to read, amazing!! Yes, I’ve been trying to achieve 100% feecback ratio on NetGalley, but I have yet to hit the goal… duh

      • You should see my TBR-shelves at home.. I’m going to buy myself like 50 books as a gift to myself if I ever clear them, haha!

I’ve reached 100% and it lasted for.. two days? That’s it. But that’s simply because I went on a requesting spree; shouldn’t have done that..
On the other side, I really wanted to read Matthew S. Cox’s new novel since I got the chance to read and review one of his others already [Convergence], which he wrote together with another author. So it’ll be fun to see how the writing is of a book that’s completely his own!

I’m with Jay in that I never got around to reading The Alchemist either even though it was recommended to me. I’m currently reading Don’t Tell by Karen Rose and I recently finished a novella called Bridal Jitters by Jayne Castle that was decent but not omg great.

Thanks, Nel! Sorry it took me so long to respond (I went to bed early last night due to a headache), and I’ve just finished the book. I know it totally depends on our brain as to how we perceive the book, but I felt a bit underwhelmed lol You can read my thoughts in my review.

  3. Little Fires Everywhere sounds good. Cool that you were approved for it! I’m currently on Netgalley lock down. I’m way behind and struggling to catch up.

I love this meme. Great one as usual, Noriko! I always know I can learn about great books here! 💗👍
