TAG: I’m a Rock Star

Huge thanks to Jay@This-Is-My-Truth-Now for tagging me on this ‘I’m a Rock Star’ tag! Sorry it took me this long to do this tag – you know how bad I am at coming up with answers to as tough questions as these!
Joking aside, thank you for even thinking of me when choosing who to tag πŸ™‚
If you haven’t already, which I know it’s highly unlikely, do take your time and visit his blog – he’s got great contents and he recently clinched a publishing deal for his debut novel! If you don’t (visit his blog), you’ll miss out A LOT.

Without further ado, let’s see how I do with this tag!

What is the name of your band, or if you are a solo artist, your stage name (example: Lady Ga Ga, Snoop Dog, Puddles the Clown, etc…)?

Tough question right from the start… I’ll probably let other bandmates decide on the name, but for the sake of the question, I’d go either for ‘Raging Thunder’ or ‘Epiphany,’ but oh, God, they sound really lame and clichΓ©, I really suck at things like this… lol

What genre or style of music are you known for?

I have no idea! I listen to whatever genre as long as it carries good melodies and harmonies. Genre or style of music doesn’t really matter – I hardly ever listen to heavy/thrash metal and punk rock though.

Can I share my recent obsession here? I got to know this tune through Always Trust In Books post and am now hooked. This is pretty darn cool and addictive!! Especially the lyrics just tugs at my heartstrings – I LOVE THE LYRICS.

And THIS. So beautiful.

What instrument do you play or are you the lead singer?

I cannot play any instrument whatsoever. I can’t even play the piano – I attempted it, but I could never move my two hands separately let alone execute different rhythm or melodies.
Thankfully, I am not a tone-deaf and used to be pretty good at singing. I was even asked to be the lead singer of a band when I was in high school!
At the risk of my blowing my own trumpet (pun intended), I am probably pretty good at copying or imitating things in general – my style of singing and how I execute my voice changes depending on whose music I listen to. Β That said, I cannot hit high tones nor as virtuosic as Mariah Carey or Whitney Huston, so it is next to impossible to sing like them, though.

If you could be the opening act for any band currently touring who would it be?

Let’s be honest – just imagining being the opening act for an existent and active professional band gives me vertigo, makes my head spinning. It’s too humbling and I don’t think I am qualified to do so!
That said, let’s pick a couple of bands that I think it would be AWESOME if I got to run into them backstage or somewhere in the venue while rehearsal…

  • TOTO (No need to say, I guess)
  • Chicago (Still going strong, man!)
  • Sting

Bonus – here’s a pic that I took with the members of TOTO on March 10, 2016, when they came to Japan!

Who would you name as your musical inspiration? This person can be currently breathing, or not.

As I told you earlier, I don’t have a creative gene inside me, NONE that I know of. So it is difficult to answer this question, but let’s just name David Paich (TOTO) and Steve Porcaro (TOTO) for my musical inspiration; the tunes they create have always struck a chord with me πŸ™‚

What special item do you ask for in your dressing room on a tour contract rider?

With this question, I’ll second Jay’s answer – Air conditioning. Everywhere. Even if the temperature is under 60 degrees. Being cold is better than hot anytime!

Yup, that says it all.

What item from home do you pack in your suitcase to take on tour?

  • iPhone
  • Tablet (currently Kindle Fire)
  • Books, books, BOOKS!!!

As for snacks, I think I could always pop outside to convenient stores or something, so it’s necessary, but I intentionally excluded it πŸ˜€

What does your stage attire look like?

I have no idea… will you please let me off the hook??? lol Β My brain has just started to melt…
Oh, but the material or fabric needs to be comfy and not so thick because I hate sweating.

What backstage nickname have the roadies given you based on your personality?

Daydreamer. I like woolgathering. Seriously.

Every successful rockstar has a special charity. What’s yours?

I’m afraid I’m not knowledgeable about charity, so I’ll go for a basic; Red Cross, perhaps???
Whatever charity I’d go with, I’d definitely do some background check or homework just to make sure my donation will be well and adequately spent.

What is the title of your memoir going to be?

The idea of publishing my own memoir gives me a cringe… I’ll say it wouldn’t happen, EVER.

As for tagging, as I am not quite sure if you are into music, so I’ll only nominate

If any of you wants to do this tag, please go ahead!! I am curious to know your answers; just link back to me so that I can visit your blog πŸ™‚

I heart Pentatonix. You should listen to their old albums. PTX vol. 1-3. Those are my favorites! I like the nickname Daydreamer 😁. I think it fits you.
