Award: The Awesome Blogger Award #2

The Awesome Blogger

Thank you, Misty@Mistybookspace for nominating me for the ‘Awesome Blogger Award!’
This is my second nomination and I’m simply overwhelmed by the love and support by you readers!
Misty and I met about several months ago and she’s always been so nice and have left kind comments on my blog (I cannot tell you enough how relieved I was to read your response to myMe Before You review… thank you!).
She’s very active in this book community and has great content. You should definitely check out her blog!

This Award was created by Maggie @ Dreaming of Guatemala and she said:

This is an award for the absolutely wonderful writers all across the blogging world. They have beautiful blogs, are kind and lovely, and always find a way to add happiness and laughter to the lives of their readers. That is what truly defines an awesome blogger.

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Include the reason behind the award.
  • Include the banner in your post.
  • Tag it under #awesomebloggeraward in the Reader.
  • Answer the questions your nominator gave you.
  • Nominate at least 5 awesome bloggers.
  • Give your nominees 10 new questions to answer.
  • Let your nominees know that they’ve been nominated!

All right, let’s dive into the questions!

Questions:

What movie have you watched recently? Was it good?
I hardly ever watch movies lately… but oh, wait! I have! It was Ip Man featuring a Hong-Kong Kung-fu actor, Donnie Yen. I just looooove him. His execution, especially kicks are just amazing! In this movie, the fighting style is slightly different and I don’t get to see many kicks for which he is widely known… but this movie reminds me that he is soo good as an actor not only as an action star ❤

What food would you recommend everyone to try at least once?
Geeez, tough question…I’m not a foodie!! Lol but let’s see… I’m from Japan, so maybe Tempura, I think?? It’s basically deep-fried veggies and seafood with light and crispy batter made of eggs, flour, and cold water. It’s one of the most popular traditional Japanese dishes and you should definitely give this a try. It’s one of my favorite. Most people usually dip Tempura in a special sauce called ‘tsuyu,’ but I personally love to eat with a bit of salt. That won’t ruin the crispness of the batter, and you can better appreciate the flavors that the ingredients have.

What are some of your hobbies?
Crocheting, (occasionally) baking?? Oh, I hardly ever bake bread now, but I used to be crazy about baking bread, like bagels, chocolate chips bread… here are some pics of the bread that I baked.

What’s your beverage of choice?
Coffee! Or tea, occasionally.

Do you collect anything other than books?
Decorative small objects that give off a seasonal vibe. Something I can decorate my room with. To elaborate on this, I often buy tons of pumpkin themed candles or figurines when Halloween rolls around (I bought a mug cup last year) and then I start buying lots of Christmas themed items right after Halloween lol

What is your favorite season?
Fall season, hands down! I get to wear one of my favorite colors, Brown a lot. And the weather is much color in Fall. I easily get hot and sweaty, so summer is the worst!!! Winter is good, but it might be a bit too cold (it’s totally fine though).

What do you spend most of your time doing?
No doubt, reading! Give me a whole day on which I get to spend reading. That’ll make me a happy girl 🙂

What is your favorite book to movie adaptation?
Again, I haven’t watched a movie for like ages… I haven’t watched it yet, but I think Everything Everything seems good judging from its trailer! Oh, no, wait! I don’t know what you guys think about this… but Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone! I watched this movie looong before I read the book, so I was mesmerized by the Wizardly world ❤

Tell us something about yourself?
…eh, what do you guys want to know about me??
It’s not like I’m trying to hide anything from you, I simply cannot come up with anything to share with you (I’m a very ordinary person).

All right, basic info:

  1. Thank you for all the kind words Noriko!! I used to always say summer was my favorite season but the past couple of years that has changed. I would much rather have cooler weather (fall/winter) than to be sweating to death. Also that bread look delicious. I hate spiders snakes don’t bother me as much so long as I see them before they see me lol. Also my favorite colors are pink and black.

    1. Thanks, Misty! You’re very welcome ❤ Oh, your favorite color is pink, too? I am so glad to hear that 🙂
Baking bagels are actually like fight against time – we need to boil the dough for about 30 to 60 seconds each side then transfer them into baking sheet then bake them! The longer you leave them, the more wrinkly they get. Really nerve-wracking! I love bagels though! lol

  2. Thanks for tagging, you’re the best!! ❤

and OMG tempura is also the best, especially the ones with shrimp or squid– I can literally eat it all day every day. and that chocolate chip bread looks so good *drools forever*

    my favorite color is still obviously rose gold… I WOULD DYE MY HAIR ROSE GOLD IF MY HAIR WASN'T SO DAMAGED ALREADY ;-;

    1. Thanks, Kristin!! Oh, have you already tried Tempura? Yes, it’s my favorite! It’s a bit greasy if you eat all day, but it’s still delicious lol
Bagels look pretty nice, huh? I took the pic when I tried baking bagels for the first time – it went surprisingly well so I couldn’t resist gloating lol

    1. Thank you, Jay! I no longer have time to bake bread now that I picked up reading… (audiobooks don’t work for me), but looking at these pics kind of made me want to do it again lol

            1. If you did it by hand, I guess. In japan, there’s an electrical appliance called ‘Home Bakery’ where you throw all the ingredients in, turn the switch on, then let the machine do the work.

  3. Congratulations Noriko!!! I love tempura. I didn’t know it was flower, egg and water. I always thought it was panko crumbs. Either way, love it! Also, love the Ip Man movies! Please tell me you’re going to watch the second and third ones?? Those bagels look like they were made by a professional chef! Yum!

    1. Awww, that’s so sweet, Nel! Yes! I have seen Ip Man 2 already – and now waiting for Ip Man 3 to be available Japan Hulu!!
As for bagels, this is how it turned out at my first try 🙂

    1. Thank you, Alex! You’re very well deserved!
Oh yes, nothing will make me happier than reading! It would be just wonderful if I could have the entire day interrupted where I get to spend reading!!

    1. Haha! But I know what you mean! Fall is the best season in every sense – you get to wear cozy clothes, you have Halloween 🎃 and get to eat lots of delicious food! 😊✨

    1. Thanks, Annie! I remember it was so delicious 🙂 and the heart shape was not difficult once you get the hang of it! I may reconsider giving bread baking a try… hmmm

        1. Nope, I didn’t use cookie cutters. I just fold the dough to make triangle and flip it over, then cut the bottom half of the dough with a knife and then spread it to form a heart.
It’s kind of tough to explain it but hope you can get the drift lol

I need to read lot of books this months so I will do this tag as soon as I get time in between. I'm seeing this book 'The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett' frequently in your post. I think, I need to get that book now. 🙂
