I found this tag at Mischenko@ReadRantRock&Roll and strongly intrigued to give it a try.
I didn’t use to do tags until last month (I didn’t even know there was such a thing existed…), but now I’m all for it. I think doing these tags is a perfect way to make yourself known to other bloggers and deepen and strengthen the bond/friendship you had built!
Note: This post includes A LOT OF quizzes and results, so this is going to be rather long. Grab a cup of coffee/tea or whatever, make yourself comfortable!
Without further ado, let’s dive right in!
What is the meaning of my name?
My name is Noriko, ‘Norin’ is actually sort of a nickname that I picked when I started this blog.
Traditionally here in Japan, there are two ways of naming their kids;
1) Take one Kanji (Chinese character) from each of their parents and combine them, and
2) Pick Kanjis based on a ‘wish’ or ‘hope’ that parents want their kids to carry on throughout their lives. In this case, each Chinese character that is used in a kid’s name carries a special meaning or “wish.”
Going back to my name, ‘Noriko,’ I didn’t get to find out the ‘real’ reason why I got this name believe it or not.
However many times I asked my mom where my name came from, she always goes like, ‘It was your father who decided on your name. I had nothing to do with it, so I don’t know.’
Unfortunately, my father passed away 13 years ago, so there’s no telling where my name really came from, which is a bit unfair given both of my elder siblings’ names have their roots – My big brother got his name following Pattern 1), by taking one kanji from each of my parents while my big sister was named after Master Dogen, because she was born on the day Master Dogen entered into the eternal sleep. As I mentioned in my post, we were born to a humble *wink* Buddhist monk, that’s where Master Dogen came in just in case you’re wondering 😉
What is my Myer-Briggs Personality type? (Link)
ADVENTURER PERSONALITY (ISFP, -A/-T)
Adventurer personalities are true artists, but not necessarily in the typical sense where they’re out painting happy little trees. Often enough though, they are perfectly capable of this. Rather, it’s that they use aesthetics, design and even their choices and actions to push the limits of social convention. Adventurers enjoy upsetting traditional expectations with experiments in beauty and behavior – chances are, they’ve expressed more than once the phrase “Don’t box me in!”
Adventurers live in a colorful, sensual world, inspired by connections with people and ideas. These personalities take joy in reinterpreting these connections, reinventing and experimenting with both themselves and new perspectives. No other type explores and experiments in this way more. This creates a sense of spontaneity, making Adventurers seem unpredictable, even to their close friends and loved ones.
Despite all this, Adventurers are definitely Introverts, surprising their friends further when they step out of the spotlight to be by themselves to recharge. Just because they are alone though, doesn’t mean people with the Adventurer personality type sit idle – they take this time for introspection, assessing their principles. Rather than dwelling on the past or the future, Adventurers think about who they are. They return from their cloister, transformed.
Adventurers live to find ways to push their passions. Riskier behaviors like gambling and extreme sports are more common with this personality type than with others. Fortunately their attunement to the moment and their environment allows them to do better than most. Adventurers also enjoy connecting with others, and have a certain irresistible charm.

I personally found this results pretty accurate; I don’t find myself fit in the first half of the description shown above, I am definitely an introvert; my offline self is rather private. I do appreciate friendships and relationships that I established with my (real life) friends, but hanging out with them or sending text messages back and forth 24/7 exhausts me. I definitely need some space where I can take a break and really be myself.
In addition to this, I don’t handle criticism very well; any words of advice or caveat in a negative sense momentarily sting me even more so with face-to-face criticism or heads-ups.
I know I need to be more open to criticism than I actually am, but I cannot help but feel a bit dejected 😦
What is my Zodiac sign? (Link)
My birthday is July 6th and that makes me…
Day: Monday, Thursday
Greatest Overall Compatibility: Capricorn, Taurus
Lucky Numbers: 2, 3, 15, 20
Date range: June 21 – July 22
Strengths: Tenacious, highly imaginative, loyal, emotional, sympathetic, persuasive
Weaknesses: Moody, pessimistic, suspicious, manipulative, insecure
Cancer likes: Art, home-based hobbies, relaxing near or in water, helping loved ones, a good meal with friends
Cancer dislikes: Strangers, any criticism of Mom, revealing of personal life
Deeply intuitive and sentimental, Cancer can be one of the most challenging zodiac signs to get to know. They are very emotional and sensitive, and care deeply about matters of the family and their home. Cancer is sympathetic and attached to people they keep close. Those born with their Sun in Cancer are very loyal and able to empathize with other people’s pain and suffering.
The sign of Cancer belongs to the element of Water, just like Scorpio and Pisces. Guided by emotion and their heart , they could have a hard time blending into the world around them. Being ruled by the Moon, phases of the lunar cycle deepen their internal mysteries and create fleeting emotional patterns that are beyond their control. As children, they don’t have enough coping and defensive mechanisms for the outer world, and have to be approached with care and understanding, for that is what they give in return.
Lack of patience or even love will manifest through mood swings later in life, and even selfishness, self-pity or manipulation. They are quick to help others, just as they are quick to avoid conflict, and rarely benefit from close combat of any kind, always choosing to hit someone stronger, bigger, or more powerful than they imagined. When at peace with their life choices, Cancer representatives will be happy and content to be surrounded by a loving family and harmony in their home.
Cancer – the Brave Crab Sent to this Earth by something they believe in, only to mess with someone bigger than they are, this isn’t an animal aware of their strength. Patriotism can make them endanger their own wellbeing, fighting for someone else’s cause, as if others can become their higher power. The Crab knows where they’re going, but this is often in a wrong direction, at least until they learn their lessons and start relying solely on themselves.
Overall, I agree with most of what the result says.
I am very emotion-driven and prone to mood swings, definitely NOT logical.
That said though, “always choosing to hit someone stronger, bigger, or more powerful than they imagined,” “only to mess with someone bigger than they are…”
THAT’S ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. I dislike conflicts, period. It’s always better to live in harmony, things would definitely go smoothly and swimmingly if we paid a bit more attention to others’ feelings. I have absolutely no intention of messing with someone who’s more powerful than I am. Why would I want to go out on a limb, putting myself on the spot in the first place??? This is definitely not me.
What is my Hogwarts House? (Link)
Although I have read all Harry Potter books (the whole series, I mean) and enjoyed them all, I have never done quizzes like this before – I don’t even know what kind of characteristics each house has – so it was so much fun to see what house I would be sorted into.
My house would be…
But then again, I am not quite sure whether to be glad or sad… lol
What do you guys think???
My in-depth results are:
Hufflepuff – 14
Ravenclaw – 12
Gryffindor – 10
Slytherin – 6
I’m kind of disappointed that I wasn’t sorted into Gryffindor – I wanted to be sorted into the same house as Harry, Hermione and Ron!
What are my learning styles? (Link)
My scores were:
I have a multimodal learning preference.
Now, I agree with read/write aspect getting higher scores. I think I learn best by reading/following detailed instructions or manuals rather than by taking lectures or watching videos or something like that. Being an introvert and my preference for solitary activities might affect the results, too.
That’s not to say I dislike working with others or participating in seminars, but my lack of creativity kind of hinders me from even coming up with questions to ask. Rather than actually asking questions personally, I’d prefer to be given detailed, step-by-step written instructions or diagrams/pamphlet that I can work with at my own pace.
This is exactly how I picked up how to work with PC; I bought tons of manuals on Excel/Word/Powerpoint and followed every single instruction on those manuals. By strictly following the instructions and examples, I learned how to program macros on Excel, making graphs, inserting graphics/pics in Word docs. I feel most comfortable working on my own because I can go over the same process over and over and over again to my heart’s content without interrupting others who can learn faster than I do.
Am I right or left brain dominant?
I’m using my brain equally.
That said though, I’m not quite sure if I got the question right in Section 2. I wonder how that actually affected this result… lol
What is my bloodtype?
I’m Boodtype A positive.
For more detailed information associated with Bloodtype A+, visit the website Mischenko found – you can read it here.
Now, the website says the personal traits associated with bloodtype A+ are;
They are described to be analytical, inventive, detail oriented, creative, good listeners and sensitive to the needs of others.
With regard to this, I agree with being sensitive to the needs of others and I’m probably detail oriented. But I’m definitely NOT analytical (hell, no), inventive (how could I be??), creative (most certainly NOT). Actually, my mind goes blank when asked to come up with ideas or something; I’m probably good at tweaking something that already exists and turning it into something slightly different from the original, but creating something from scratch??? I don’t even know HOW. That’s plain IMPOSSIBLE.
What career am I meant to have? (Link)
You have a skill for language, your imagination is vast and you are artistic and creative. Your brain is just overflowing with ideas, and all you have to do is get a piece of paper and share it with the world. You were born to turn words into magical stories.
I wonder why all the results show the complete opposite of how I think of myself;
my brain is not overflowing with ideas (no), my imagination is SCARCE (not vast).
I love reading, but loving reading and actually writing (coming up with) stories are totally different, at least for me.
As for a skill for language???? I can only handle Japanese and English (albeit sloppy). Ha!
Which Divergent faction do I belong in? (Link)
Another big confession to make; I haven’t read the Divergent trilogy, so I haven’t the foggiest idea what this faction thing means… anyways, let’s figure out which Divergent faction I’ll be sorted into….
“The smart ones, the ones value knowledge and logic are Erudite. They know everything.”
Erudite is one of the five factions in the world of Divergent, the one and only faction dedicated to knowledge, intelligence, curiosity, and astuteness. It was formed by those who blamed ignorance for the war that had occurred in the past, causing them to split into factions in the first place. Their substance for the Choosing Ceremony is water. Its leader, Jeanine Matthews, is the main antagonist of Divergent and Insurgent.
Uh… I have no idea what to make of this. Shoud I be happy with the result, anyone??
What does my birth order say about me? (Link)
Like I mentioned earlier, I am the youngest of the three – I have a big brother and a sister who are respectively 7 years/5 years older than me. I am literally the baby of the family.
My mother actually told me she was quite surprised when she found out the pregnancy lol
Anyways, let’s take at look at what my birth oder says about me.
Stereotype: Free spirit, risk taker, charming.
Why it’s true: Parents are less cautious. (Hey, the older ones ate the dog’s food and lived!) And they also probably have more resources than they did when starting out. “Parents are more lenient, so youngest kids tend to be less rules-oriented, and yet they still get lots of attention,” says Salmon.
When it’s not: “Some babies resent not being taken seriously,” says Linda Campbell, a professor of counseling and human development at the University of Georgia, in Athens. “They might become very responsible, like the oldest, or social, like the middle.”
Now, this “youngest kids tend to be less rules-oriented” doesn’t apply to me; being born to a Buddhist monk, I was instilled in the importance of comforming to rules and being mindful of others my entire life. When I was little, I always felt kind of frustrated by constantly getting an earful from my parents, particularly by my father about what I was allowed to do and what I was not. For instance, what was universally acceptable, like eating soft serve while walking and chatting with my friends was definitely a No-no for me. Every time my father spotted me doing so, I was summoned to his study and was talked into why I shouldn’t have done that. He also told me to be nice to others, like greeting everybody even if I had never met them because I would never know who was watching me and judging me by my behavior. I felt it kind of stifling, but I now think that’s exactly what made me what I am today – in a sense.
And yes, it’s true – my father was way more lenient with me and my big brother would often grumble about me getting everything I wanted. I didn’t think it was true, but in retrospect, I can’t deny the fact my father pretty much doted on me 😛
Okay, that’s it!
I’m so sorry for this post being lengthy, but I hope you enjoyed reading this and got to know me a little bit better than before!
I’m not tagging anyone this time, but if you are interested, give it a go! It’s so much fun and you might discover the fact that you have never thought about.
Thank you so much for reading as always, and I’ll see you in my next post 😉
